Wunderlist is a great to do list app and task manager. It allows you to sync your tasks online and you can access it from various platforms, including Windows, Mac, iPhone, Android and iPad. However, there seem to be one platform that is missing from the list, and that is our favorite Linux. Sure enough, you can still access it using the Web interface on your browser, but that is a totally experience from a native desktop app. In this tutorial, we will show you how to install Wunderlist in Ubuntu.

If you are using Ubuntu version prior to 11.10, you can easily install Wunderlist from the Ubuntu Software Center. For Ubuntu 11.10 and 12.04:

  1. Go to Wunderlist website and download the tar file for Linux.

  2. Extract the folder to your Home folder. Open a terminal and type the following:

This will move the Wunderlist folder to the “opt” folder in the root directory.

  1. Download the installer script here (or here if the previous link does not work).

  2. Extract this tar file to your Home folder. In your terminal, type the following:

If everything goes successfully, you should find Wunderlist in your Application List. Run it and login to your account and you will be able to manage your tasks on your desktop.
