How to Make a Brick in Minecraft
Follow these steps to craft Bricks in Minecraft:
Instructions in this article apply to Minecraft for all platforms including Windows, PS4, and Xbox One.
- Mine clay blocks using a Pickaxe to get some Clay.
- Make a Crafting Table. Put 4 Wood Planks of the same type of wood in each box of the 2X2 crafting grid. Any planks will suffice (Oak Planks, Jungle Planks, etc.).
- Place the Crafting Table on the ground and interact with it to open the 3X3 crafting grid.
- How you interact with objects depends on your platform:
- PC: Right-clickMobile: Single-tapXbox: Press LTPlayStation: Press L2Nintendo: Press ZL
- Craft a Furnace. Put 8 Cobblestones or Blackstones in the outer boxes of the 3X3 grid (leave the box in the middle empty).
- Place your Furnace on the ground and interact with it to bring up the smelting menu.
- Put a fuel source (Coal, Wood, etc.) in the lower box on the left side of the smelting menu.
- Place Clay in the upper box on the left side of the smelting menu.
- Wait for the progress bar the fill, then drag the Brick into your inventory.
What You Need to Make Bricks
Here’s everything you need to craft Bricks in Minecraft:

What You Can Do With Bricks
To build something, you must combine 4 Bricks to make a Brick Block. Bricks won’t catch fire, so you don’t have to worry about any structure you build with them burning down.
To make the building process a little easier, here are some structures you can craft with Brick Blocks:
- Brick Slabs: Place 3 Brick Blocks in the middle row of the Crafting Table.Brick Stairs: Place 3 Brick Slabs in the top row of the Crafting Table and 3 Brick Slabs in the middle row.Brick Wall: Place 6 Brick Blocks in the top row of the Crafting Table and 3 Brick Blocks in the middle row.
