This article explains how to respawn the Ender Dragon in Minecraft on any platform (PC, Xbox, Switch, etc.).

How to Resummon the Ender Dragon

After you defeat the Ender Dragon, you can follow these steps to resummon her:

  • Craft 16 Blaze Powders using 8 Blaze Rods. You can only make 2 Blaze Powders at a time.
  • Make a Crafting Table with four wood planks. Any type of wood planks will work (Warped Planks, Crimson Planks, etc.).
  • Set the Crafting Table on the ground and interact with it to open the 3X3 crafting grid.
  • Craft 4 Eyes of Ender. Put 4 Blaze Powders in the first box of the middle row and 4 Ender Pearls in the grid center.
  • Craft 4 End Crystals. Put 4 Eyes of Ender in the center of the grid, 4 Ghast Tears in the middle of the bottom row, and 4 Glass blocks in each of the remaining boxes.
  • Go through the End portal to return to The End.
  • Find the pedestal in the area where you fought the Ender Dragon and put the 4 End Crystals around the edges of the portal. Place a crystal on the center block of each edge.
  • If you didn’t collect the Dragon Egg that appeared atop the pedestal when you first fought the Ender Dragon, grab it before placing the crystals, or else it will disappear forever.
  • The battle area’s pillars will reconstruct, the Ender Dragon will return, and the battle will begin.

About The Ender Dragon

The Ender Dragon only appears in The End biome and is considered the final boss of Minecraft. The first time you defeat her, she drops 12,000 experience points and the Dragon’s Egg. After that, you’ll only get 500 experience points per battle, and a new portal will appear connecting The End and the Overworld (for a maximum of 20 portals).

Equip a Looting Sword as your weapon to improve your chances of getting rare drops.

The Dragon’s Egg is just a trophy item, so it cannot be hatched; however, some Minecraft mods let you spawn the Ender Dragon in the Overworld.
