This article explains how to send an invoice through PayPal. You can also set up recurring invoices for your clients to better manage your billing process.
What to Know
- Log in to your PayPal account and select Send & Request at the top of the page, then select Send an invoice in the right sidebar.
- To manage your invoices and set up recurring invoices, go to the PayPal invoice manager page.
- If you have a PayPal Business account, go to Tools > Invoicing for more advanced invoicing options.
How to Send a PayPal Invoice
To send an invoice with PayPal, follow these steps:
- Log in to your PayPal account and select Send & Request at the top of the page.
- Select Send an invoice in the right sidebar.
- Enter an email address under Bill to, or select Bill multiple customers to enter multiple addresses.
- To add shipping information, check the Ship order to box and select Add address. You can also choose to Cc additional recipients.
- Under Items, enter a detailed description of the invoice. Select Add item or service for multiple entries. You also have the option to leave a message for the customer, add Terms and Conditions, and assign an automatic reference number.
- Select Send at the top of the page. Alternatively, select the down-arrow next to Send and select Share link to invoice. You’ll get a link that you can paste into a text message or anywhere else.
Scheduling a PayPal Invoice
If you don’t want to send the invoice immediately, you can schedule it for later:
Log in to your PayPal account and select Send & Request at the top of the page.
Select Send an invoice in the right sidebar.
Enter an email address under Bill to, or select Bill multiple customers to enter multiple addresses.
To add shipping information, check the Ship order to box and select Add address. You can also choose to Cc additional recipients.

- Select the date under Invoice date.
- Select a date on the calendar.
- Select Save and schedule.
Manage Your PayPal Invoices
Go to the PayPal invoice manager to manage your drafts and sent invoices. Select an invoice to view it, or select the three dots next to each invoice to see options like Print, Download PDF, and Share Link. To set up recurring invoices, select the Recurring Series tab.
Select the date under Invoice date.
Select a date on the calendar.
Select Save and schedule.
All scheduled invoices are sent at 7 a.m. on the morning of their schedule. There is no way to change this time.
